Antimicrobial Stewardship Program
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at Unity Health aims to optimize the use of antimicrobials for our patients. This involves efforts to promote the selection of appropriate antimicrobial agents, as well as the optimal dose, route and duration of therapy.
The ASP also seeks to avoid unnecessary antimicrobial use. In this way, the goal of the ASP is to optimize patient outcomes while minimizing the risk of Clostridium difficile infection, other antimicrobial-related adverse events and the development of antimicrobial resistance.
