Growing Together: Unity Health Toronto’s 2023-24 Annual Report

In the seven years since Unity Health became a network, we have worked to drive system transformation and improve patient care by harnessing the collective power of our individual sites to create the best care experiences, created together.

Unity Health’s 2023-24 Annual Report highlights the ways we have leveraged the connection of our communities to be leaders in our areas of world class specialty care, artificial intelligence and health equity.

We have accomplished many things over the past year: having our trauma program verified as a Level 1 Trauma Centre by the American College of Surgeons, preparing for our new Electronic Patient Record and taking meaningful steps to ensure equity for everyone who works at and enters our sites.

This report features the hard work and dedication of so many staff, physicians, learners, volunteers and patient family partners, and tells the stories of the incredible patients and families who have sought care at our sites. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Unity Health’s achievements this year. None of it would be possible without you.

Take a look at some of the major stories in this year’s report:

Innovating care experiences with Artificial Intelligence

An innovative AI tool is stopping adverse events before they happen on the St. Joseph’s Medicine Unit. Medical professionals and data scientists alike agree that CHARTwatch is a game-changer for patient care.

Pathway to recovery

Patients in the Bariatric Centre of Excellence have a full spectrum of care as they move between Providence and St. Joseph’s for often life-changing treatment.

From paper to pixels

Unity Health teams are gearing up for the biggest digital transformation in the organization’s history: the implementation of our new Electronic Patient Record.

Thriving after trauma

As a Level 1 Trauma Centre, St. Michael’s sees many patients who have been victims of violence. A research project and program is helping them recover beyond just their physical injuries.

We hope you enjoy reading our annual report. If you have any suggestions and feedback on how our health network can provide even better patient care and services, please send your ideas via our contact page.
