With Family Birthing Centres at our St. Joseph’s Health Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital sites, you can choose the site that works best for your family, knowing that no matter where you deliver, you will receive high-quality, family-centred care designed to meet the diverse needs of our communities. To deliver your baby at Unity Health, please select your preferred site below. Please note that requests for services other than obstetrical care and birthing will not be responded to.

Family Birthing Centre at St. Joseph's Health Centre
Our diverse team of obstetricians, nurses, lactation consultants and other health care professionals provide exceptional care to west Toronto communities, patients and families before, during and after labour. We believe in providing our patients with up-to-date, evidence-based, patient-centred and individualized care.
As experts in preconception, pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, we specialize in the range of care necessary to support you in the perinatal period.

Dr. Clarissa Bambao
Dr. Bambao is the Hospital-Site and Rotation Coordinator for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, preceptor for the MIGS fellowship and an active staff physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Dr. Bambao received her medical degree from Queen’s Medical School and completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. She also completed the AAGL-accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Sunnybrook Heath Sciences Centre in Toronto.
Her current clinical practice specializes in low-risk obstetrics, general gynecology, colposcopy and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Melanie Caetano
Dr. Caetano completed both her medical school and residency training at the University of Toronto. She is a clinical associate and lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Caetano is active in medical education and is interested in patient-centred and evidence-based care in obstetrics and gynecology. She is also fluent in Portugese.

Dr. Nicole Cherry
Dr. Cherry received her post graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Toronto. She enjoys medical education and is the Coordinator for the Low Risk Obstetrics Enhanced Skills program at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Dr. Cherry is a general Obstetrician and Gynecologist and has a special interest in Colposcopy.

Dr. Paul Davies
Interim chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Davies completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Ottawa and went on to do his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training at Queen’s University. He completed a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Centre as well. He practices general obstetrics and specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Sarah Freeman
Dr. Sarah Freeman is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. She completed her medical degree and residency training at the University of Toronto before joining the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2025.
Dr. Freeman offers comprehensive obstetrical and gynaecologic care with a special interest in minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery and colposcopy.
Passionate about medical education, Dr. Freeman has been recognized with multiple teaching awards from the University of Toronto and is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. She has contributed to curriculum development in areas including trauma-informed care, women’s health and health equity. Dr. Freeman is committed to providing inclusive, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care to her patients through all stages of life.

Dr. Beata Grygowski
Dr. Grygowski graduated from the Queen’s University Medical School and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. She is currently an active staff member of St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Dr. Grygowski is a lecturer at the University of Toronto. She has a general practice in both Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a special interest in urogynecology, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries and colposcopy.

Dr. Lauren Jain
After obtaining her medical degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Jain completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Advanced Gynecologic Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital and joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
At St. Joseph’s, she is actively involved in medical education and is a lecturer at the University of Toronto. In addition to low-risk obstetrics and minimally invasive surgery, her clinical interests include colposcopy, vulvar disease and the management of early pregnancy complications.

Dr. Sybil Judah
Dr. Judah completed her medical training at McGill University and her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Toronto. She is currently a staff OBGYN.

Dr. Yolanda Kirkham
Dr. Kirkham is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. She is an obstetrician and pediatric, adolescent, and adult gynecologist at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Dr. Kirkham received her masters and medical degrees from the University of British Columbia, and completed her OBGYN residency and fellowship at the University of Toronto.
Her clinical practice includes inclusive care in obstetrics and gynecology across all age groups, vulva clinic, and ambulatory surgery.
Dr. Kirkham’s special interests and certifications include quality improvement and patient safety, leadership, and patient advocacy and education through media. She is also fluent in Chinese Mandarin.

Dr. Anna Kobylianskii
Dr. Anna Kobylianskii is a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon and Obstetrician at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. She completed her medical school and residency at the University of Toronto, after which she completed a two-year American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL)-accredited fellowship in advanced gynaecologic surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She also completed a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Quality at Queen’s University.
She joined the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in 2024. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and is the medical student Clerkship Site Coordinator for the department.
Her clinical practice specializes in patient-centred obstetrical care as well as complex gynecologic surgery, including endometriosis, fibroids, and hysteroscopy. She is fluent in Russian.

Dr. Brian Liu
Dr. Liu underwent his medical school training at Queen’s University and his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. Following residency, he completed a two year American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. He also received a Masters in Health Science Education at McMaster University.

Dr. Mary Melchior
Dr. Melchior has been practicing at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for 20 years. She underwent medical school training at Queen’s University and completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. Following residency, she completed an American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Women’s College/Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
She is a lecturer at the University of Toronto and actively involved in teaching medical trainees. She is the Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship in gynecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Her current clinical practice specializes in patient-centered obstetrical care and complex benign gynecologic surgery, including surgical management of advanced endometriosis and large fibroids. She also performs pelvic reconstructive surgery for prolapse and incontinence.

Dr. Erica Pascoal
Dr. Erica Pascoal is an Obstetrician and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
She completed medical school at the University of Toronto and residency at McMaster University. She then completed a two-year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and gained skills in advanced laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, robotic surgery, and vaginal surgery. She concurrently completed a Master’s of Sciencein Healthcare Quality at Queen’s University.
She joined the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in 2026.
She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She provides general obstetrical care as well as care to patients with complex benign gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids.
Her clinical interests include complex gynecologic surgery, including endometriosis, fibroids, prolapse and hysteroscopy and general obstetrics.

Dr. Aparna Sarangapani
Dr. Sarangapani completed her medical school at Queen’s University in 2012 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Toronto in 2017. She has a certification in Patient Safety and Quality Management from the University of Calgary.
In 2017, Dr. Sarangapani joined the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. She is a lecturer at the University of Toronto. She has a special interest in medical education, as well as in advancing patient safety and quality improvement within the hospital and the surrounding community.
She promotes inclusion and diversity in her practice. Her clinical practice focuses on: reproductive health, obstetrics, family planning, menopause, general gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery, and colposcopy.

Dr. Artin Ternamian
Dr. Ternamian is an Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Toronto and former Director of Gynecologic Endoscopy Fellowship Program at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
He has a special interest in Gynecologic endoscopy, as it relates to patient safety, instrument design, operative hysteroscopy, curriculum development and endoscopy litigation.
He holds several international patents, consults with industry and has published extensively on patient safety.

Dr. Suzanne Wong
Dr. Wong completed her medical school and specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s/Massachusetts General Hospital. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Her research interests include ultrasound education and faculty development. Her clinical activities include general obstetrics and gynecology, neonatal circumcision and operative gynecology.

Patients that require the specialist services of a high risk, or Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) obstetrician, have these appointments at our St. Michael’s site. If you need specialized care during your pregnancy, your obstetrician will refer you to an MFM provider at St. Michael’s for consultation or, in some cases, ongoing obstetrical care. Family Medicine Obstetrics Providers
St. Joseph’s has a group of family physicians who have completed extra training in obstetrical care and provide medical care for patients throughout pregnancy, labour and post-partum, including breastfeeding support, general medicine and counselling.
