Accounts Receivable: Accommodations and Billing
When you receive care at Unity Health, some services may not be covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). In these cases, you may be responsible for paying out of pocket. Our accounts receivable team is here to support you by providing advance notice of any additional costs, details about the services you will be receiving and information on how to make payments. We may also require certain personal or billing information in advance to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
Any patient visiting the hospital with no insurance coverage (i.e. no valid OHIP card, Out of Province Health Card etc.) is required to make a pre-payment based on an estimate. The pre-payment is also required from insured patients (e.g. valid OHIP card) getting an uninsured services, see below for examples. Any differences between prepayment amount and actual charges are refunded/charged after the service/care is provided.
Our goal is to help you navigate the billing process smoothly and ensure your healthcare services are properly documented and paid.
