Orthopaedic Surgery

Orthopaedic Surgery is the clinical specialty responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. 

The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Centre provides comprehensive Musculoskeletal care to the west end of Toronto. Our community teaching hospital is affiliated with the University of Toronto and our orthopaedic program provides expertise in both general and subspecialty orthopaedic care. Our division is comprised of seven full time faculty members, all with academic appointments and subspecialty interests. 

The areas of subspecialty care include:

  • Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Surgery
  • Foot and Ankle Surgery
  • Fracture Care and General Orthopaedic Trauma 
  • Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Surgery
  • Upper Extremity Surgery (Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist)

Clinical care is provided through individual surgeon’s offices as well as through the Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic.

Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic

The Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic at St. Joseph’s provides consultation, fracture management and surgical follow-up care for all age groups. Our care team of orthopaedic surgeons, medical residents, orthopaedic technologists and nurses work together to provide safe, patient-centred care.

We provide the following services:

  • Casting and bracing
  • Follow-up fracture care
  • Consultations with orthopaedic surgeons
  • Post-operative follow-up care
  • Osteoporosis screening program

Referrals

Referrals can be submitted directly to physicians’ offices or through the Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic, where our clinical team will triage them to the appropriate physician to ensure each patient receives the specialized care they need.
