Stroke Inpatient Program

St. Michael’s Hospital is one of 10 regional stroke centres in Ontario. We provide expert stroke care for patients across the South East Toronto Stroke Network. Our Stroke Program is available 24/7 to assess and treat strokes as medical emergencies. Our team of stroke specialists works with other health care experts to provide world-class care for both treating and preventing strokes and cerebrovascular (brain blood vessel) diseases.

Patients who have had an ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA) or non-surgical hemorrhagic stroke receive care in the Stroke & Neurology Unit, on the 6th floor of the Bond wing. Our Stroke Assessment and Treatment Team includes a group of trained and experienced health care professionals (see diagram below) who work together to provide personalized care. They support patients, families as they start their recovery journey.
