Unity Health Toronto is one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2026, marking its fifth consecutive year as one of the region’s best places to work.

The designation recognizes Unity Health’s commitment to supporting the more than 13,000 staff, physicians, students and volunteers who work across the network’s three hospital sites and constellation of community-based clinics.

Supporting our people is a top priority so that they can continue to do what they do best, says Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO of Unity Health Toronto. “Every day, our people dedicate themselves to serving our patients with compassion, seeking out new ways to improve patient care, and collaborating with health system partners to advance care beyond our walls. In turn, our organization is committed to supporting their growth and joy at work so they can thrive.”

Unity Health is among the top employers in the region according to criteria set by MediaCorp: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Some of those benefits at Unity Health include:

  1. A team-based culture with passionate, purpose-driven people who care about the well-being of others.
  2. Competitive compensation and benefits, including a leading defined benefit pension program
  3. A learning organization that prioritizes professional growth, ongoing education  and values-based recognition
  4. Comprehensive Employee and Family Assistance Program
  5. Recognition moments and events celebrating our people and energizing social culture

Unity Health Toronto’s hospital sites have been providing compassionate, quality care since their founding by The Sisters of St. Joseph more than 150 years ago. This commitment to our mission and values, which includes serving the most vulnerable in society, is the driving force behind the inspiring culture, which draws people to Unity Health as a wonderful place to work and grow, says Manson Locke, Vice President, People and Chief Human Resources Officer.

“Our legacy of compassionate care, which is based in our mission and values, is a strength that underpins all that we do,” says Manson Locke, Vice President, People and Chief Human Resources Officer. “We know that’s what drives the people who work here and it drives Unity Health to support them in this mission.”
