Unity Health Toronto has received two awards from Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) for its continued support for organ and tissue donation in Ontario. The Hospital Achievement Award – Provincial Eligible Approach Rate recognizes Unity Health’s achievements in meeting or exceeding the eligible approach rate (number of discussions with eligible patients and/or their families at end of life) of 90 per cent set by Ontario Health. The Award of Excellence recognizes Unity Health for meeting or exceeding this eligible approach rate for its fifth consecutive year.  

The Centre for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at St. Michael’s Hospital has been re-designated as a Centre of Excellence by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO).This prestigious recognition places St. Michael’s among just 20 Centres of Excellence worldwide and is the only one in Canada. This designation is awarded to institutions with an outstanding international reputation and a proven commitment to advancing high-quality endoscopic procedures, education, and research.

Dr. Ryan Giroux, general pediatrician at St. Michael’s, has been awarded the Dr. Thomas Dignan Indigenous Health Award from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This recognizes his efforts to improve Indigenous child health through culturally sensitive care in inner-city clinics.

Dr. Kristen Krysko, neurologist at St. Michael’s, received the 2025 Rachel Horne Prize for Women’s Research in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This award recognizes her exceptional research about how to guide and treat women with MS during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dr. Sean B. Rourke, scientist at MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions in St. Michael’s, is the inaugural recipient of the Erick Jackman Prize from the Royal Society of Canada. This award recognizes path-breaking scientific contributions to preventing harm, strengthening resilience, or otherwise benefiting humankind through research in one or more behavioural and social science fields.
