Regional Anesthesia moves into its newly renovated space as part of St. Michael’s 3.0

By Selma Al-Samarrai
Effective May 19, the Regional Anesthesia procedural area inside St. Michael’s Hospital, commonly known as the ‘Regional Room’ is operating out of its newly renovated space in 5 Donnelly. The newly renovated and expanded space will include three additional bays where patients are seen, brand new and updated technology such as surgical lights and patient headwalls, and a new nurse call system. The new space has also been designed for better workflow for staff and includes more seamless access to key areas such as the medication room, clean utility room and soiled utility room.
This move is part of a multi-phased renovation to Perioperative services at St. Michael’s. Once complete, these renovations will include a new Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and a new Operating Room desk, which will be central to the new operating rooms in the fifth floor of the Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower.
This move represents another completed milestone in the St. Michael’s 3.0 redevelopment project.
