Thoracic Surgery is surgery that deals with diseases of the chest, airway, upper stomach and esophagus. Our team of three board certified thoracic surgeons provide exemplary care in minimally invasive thoracic surgery. We provide surgical treatment of the following malignant disease : lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, thymic malignancies, chest wall malignancies. We also provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of benign diseases such as pneumothorax, hiatus hernia, achalasia, Zenker’s diveritculum, pectus excavatum, slipped rib syndrome and hyperhidrosis.
The thoracic surgery division at St. Joseph’s also provides comprehensive 24/7 on call thoracic coverage to St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and Humber River Hospital. We have a formal affiliation with numerous cancer centres, such as Princess Margaret Hospital.
Our chest wall program provides the highest volume treatment of complex chest wall congenital deformities such as pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum and slipped rib syndrome. We have a formal partnership with SickKids Hospital for these patients.
