Neurophysiology Lab

Neurophysiology Lab tests allow assessment of brain and peripheral nerve function for accurate diagnosis and management of many neurological disorders. They provide objective measures of severity and clues to the underlying diagnosis.

The tests performed are:

  1. Nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG)
These tests are done to diagnose a wide range of nerve and muscle problems, from common problems like carpal tunnel syndrome and sciatica to complex disorders such as inflammatory and inherited nerve and muscle diseases and myasthenia gravis.

  2. Electroencephalography (EEG)
This test is done for assessment of patients with impaired consciousness, possible or known epilepsy or cognitive impairment.

  3. Evoked Potentials (EP)
These tests are done to assess sensory pathways (visual, auditory and/or sensation from the hands and feet). They are done most often in the context of inflammatory diseases of the nervous system such as MS but also in the case of trauma or compression.
