Dr. Katerina Pavenski is a Transfusion Medicine Specialist and Clinical Hematologist. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology and is cross-appointed to the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. She obtained her MD from the University of Toronto and completed residencies in Internal Medicine (University of Toronto), Hematology (University of Toronto) and Transfusion Medicine (McMaster University). She divides her time between transfusion medicine and classical hematology. She is actively involved in clinical research and teaching. Her research interests include thrombotic microangiopathies, clinical transfusion medicine, patient blood management, management of major hemorrhage, and therapeutic apheresis. She is the Vice-Chair of the International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines (ICTMG) and Regional Director (North Americas) of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) Board of Directors.
