Biography

Dr. Chi-Ming Chow is an attending staff cardiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital and a full professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He holds an undergraduate degree in computer science from Brown University in the USA. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University in 1990, followed by a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology from McGill University in 1997. Dr. Chow completed his training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Cardiology at McGill University. He then pursued a clinical and research echocardiography fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, before joining the Division of Cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital in 2001.

Dr. Chi-Ming Chow specializes in non-invasive cardiac imaging, specifically echocardiography and stress echocardiography. He serves as the Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at St. Michael’s Hospital. Dr. Chow is a former president of the Canadian Society of Echo (CSE) and the current president of the Chinese Canadian Medical Society (CCMS).

Dr. Chi-Ming Chow is an esteemed figure in the field of medical informatics, known for creating widely used medical education software programs like CardioMath and ECG Made Simple. His research focuses on ethnic disparities in cardiovascular disease, advancements in non-invasive imaging, and the integration of artificial intelligence for enhanced patient care.

Dr. Chow is a renowned educator, honoured with prestigious teaching awards. He is a prolific researcher and actively participates in global scientific meetings. Additionally, he serves as a media spokesperson and President of the Chinese Canadian Council at the Heart and Stroke Foundation. His dedication to health promotion and research has earned him multiple awards, including the ACCE Best Community Service Award and the Chinese Canadian Legend Award.
