Please plan to spend the full day at the hospital, as emergency cases may delay your scheduled procedure.

When you arrive, check in at the registration desk near the Cardinal Carter North elevators on the 7th floor. You may wait in the waiting room before being brought into the Cardiac Investigation Unit (CIU) unless alternate directions provided.

In the CIU, a nurse will complete your pre-procedure assessment, which includes:

  • Having you change into a gown
  • Checking your vital signs
  • Reviewing your medications and medical history
  • Starting an IV
  • Answering any questions you may have
  • Tip: Use the bathroom before your procedure — the best time is when you change into your gown

You will also be seen by the physician performing your procedure and, if needed, an anesthesiologist.

You’ll then be taken to the Procedure Room, where a dedicated team of nurses, technologists, and physicians will care for you throughout.

Afterward, you’ll return to the CIU for recovery. A nurse will monitor your condition, review your discharge instructions, and provide education on what to expect at home.

Most patients are discharged the same day once recovery milestones are met. Some may stay overnight, depending on the procedure and individual needs.

Please ensure a responsible adult accompanies you home, as you cannot drive or travel alone. With your support person, you are able to take ride-shares or public transit.

Our team is here to support you every step of the way and ensure your safety and comfort throughout your visit.
