Biography

Dr. Cindy Lam’s areas of focus are comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and neuro-ophthalmology. Her clinical practice began in 2017.  She is a lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto.  Her practice is based in the west end at St Joseph’s Health Centre and the Vista Eye Centre, as well as at Kensington Vision & Research Centre, and the University Health Network.

Dr. Lam completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, where she was elected as Chief Resident in her final year. She then pursued fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Lam is interested in medical student and resident education. She serves as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto, and is the site director for the Residency Program at the Kensington Eye Institute. She sits on the Residency Program Committee for the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Lam is also active in research, with multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests include topics on intraocular lens implants and perioperative fasting, as well as neuro-ophthalmologic diseases such as non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
